Among the monuments and statues scattered Manado, Worang Battalion Landing Memorial is the only monument that became a landmark military operations a whole army that I have encountered. Worang Battalion Landing Memorial is located in the Village of North Wenang, District Wenang, in the center of the city of Manado.
Worang Battalion is one battalion under the Army Headquarters, previously called Battalion B in Brigade 16 Army, under the command of Major Hein Victor Worang (with the rank of Major General TNI-AD), which was assigned to the Manado to maintain the integrity of the unitary state of Indonesia from separatist movement.
Worang Battalion consists of seven companies, namely Company Yuus Somba, Utu Then, Wim Tenges, Wuisan, Andi Odang, John Ottay and Wim Yoseph Company (Company Headquarters), the Chief of Staff of Battalion Captain Rory. The Worang Battalion Forces numbered about 1,100 people.
HV Worang was born in Tontalete on March 12, 1919, and was the first Minahasa son to become the Army's one and two-star Army General, acquired in January 1965 and July 1971.
On March 2, 1967, Major General Victor Hein Worang sworn in as Governor of North Sulawesi by Presidential Decree No. UP 6/1 / 28-212 dated February 23, 1972. The exercise of the North Sulawesi Governor position until June 21, 1978. HV Worang died in 1982 at the age of 63 years.
